Welcome
East Africa Women’s League (United Kingdom) is a benevolent charity and friendship association for all those, women and men, with an interest in East Africa and Kenya in particular.
EAWL (UK) is the UK branch of a long established Kenyan organisation which was first registered in Nairobi in 1917 to pursue the right of European Women in British East Africa to vote. It became a highly respected and influential women’s organisation over the years, but its activities are now confined more or less to its charitable functions.
In addition to its benevolent side, EAWL (UK) seeks to maintain and promote the friendship and well-being of women and men in the UK and elsewhere who have lived in or who are interested in East Africa.
EAWL (UK) hosts social events throughout the year, and publishes a twice-yearly magazine.
